Consists of a 750 meter swim off Abersoch beach, A 20km bike course and a 5km run to finish off. It’s an outstanding course with a great challenge element. There’s good marshal support on all aspects of the race.

PROVISIONAL START TIME: All athletes will start together at 9:30am.  NOTE THAT THERE IS MANDATORY REGISTRATION THE DAY BEFORE or ON THE MORNING OF THE RACE.

FINAL ENTRY & RACE PACKSFINAL ENTRY: Subject to availability race entry will be available online up until 9am on Friday 17th June 2016. After this time you can enter at the Vaynol Arms in Abersoch on FRIDAY 17th June between 5pm & 9pm or from Race Control on SATURDAY 18th JUNE between 7am & 9am (again subject to availability).

RACE PACKS: Race information will be sent to you via email close to the event date with all the details you need for getting to the race and the race itself. Race numbers, timing chip tag, bike stickers and swim cap are to be collected from the Vaynol Arms in Abersoch on FRIDAY 17th JUNE between 5pm & 9pm or from Race Control on SATURDAY 18th JUNE between 7am & 9:00am.

RACE DAY INFORMATIONThe Abersoch Sprint Triathlon takes place on Saturday 18th June 2016. Start is at 9:30am on Abersoch Beach by the middle slip ramp & Abersoch Beach Cafe. Race briefing is at 9:15am with all competitors starting at the same time.

FULL RACE DAY INFORMATION: A comprehensive Race Pack will be sent to you in advance of the race via email providing all the information you will require for a safe and enjoyable experience on race day..

KILOMETER MARKERS: There will be clear Kilometer Marker signs throughout the course.

TRANSITION: Is controlled, clear (new for 2016) & secure. It’s well positioned for all 3 disciplines and the race car park. Arriving early will allow you plenty of time to familiarise yourself with ‘Entry’ and ‘Exit’ points as well as to set up your area.

THE FINISH: The finish is clearly visible along Abersoch beach. You must cross the finish line and over the timing pad to get an authorised official finishing time. There will be a finish clock that will show the time from the gun, but your official time will be determined from when you actually cross the start & finish line, where the timing pad is positioned. Times will be available straight after the race.

MEDALS & DRINKS: Zinc Alloy top quality race medals with bespoke lanyards, a bottle of water & energy drink & items like banana’s & Mars bars will be given to all Triathlon finishers.

PRIZE GIVING: Takes place at 1:00pm at The Vaynol Arms. Always a great atmosphere and very busy so get there early!

BRITISH TRIATHLON FEDERATION:
UK triathlons and duathlons are governed by the British Triathlon Federation. All entrants are required to abide by all applicable British Triathlon rules and regulations.

The relevant rules and regulations can be read in the BTF Rulebook.

BRITISH TRIATHLON FEDERATION MEMBERSHIP FEE: If you are not a current member of Triathlon England, Triathlon Scotland or the Welsh Triathlon Association, you will be liable to pay a £5 day membership fee at registration (£3 for Youth & Juniors). Please show your race licence at registration.

MP3 PLAYERS ETC: British Triathlon Rule Number 8.1 states “Any equipment that acts as an impediment to hearing or concentration is prohibited from use during an event (including transition). This includes, but is not limited to, mobile telephones (which should be switched off if stored in transition), personal stereos and MP3 players.

WETSUIT RULE: The wearing of wetsuits in triathlon is governed by British Triathlon rules and is totally dependent on water temperature one hour before the start of the event.

Wetsuit ruleWe do say that wetsuits in fact help with buoyancy and warmth, so we strongly recommend that you wear one if they are optional. We will keep you updated with water temperature as we get closer to the event.
